Our purpose statement, our DNA, is based on the great commission (Mt. 28:19), and the great commandment (Mt. 22:36-39). The five B's are our attempt to draw, to explain, in broad strokes, our purpose statement. These are essential "marks of someone devoted to Christ and His Church." If we have participating members living out these characteristics, we are moving toward a biblically functioning community.
BelieveBelieve in the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Without a doubt the first and most important responsibility of the church is to help everyone fall in love with Jesus. God loved you so much that He sent His very own Son just for you. Jesus makes a way for you to come into God's presence. When you believe by faith that you can become an adopted child of God your journey to a life of peace, happiness and blessing begins. BelongBelong to a group. In the early days of the church they met in small groups. These groups had several key elements. They prayed, fellowshipped, shared, and grew together. We believe that our small groups help us to believe deeper, become stronger and make eternal friends. A small group is a place where people truly care for each other. BestowBestow your gifts. Every person in unique. God's real plan for spiritual gifts in the church is really simple. He gives us the analogy that the church is a body. A great voice can do nothing without great feet to carry it somewhere. Great feet need direction from a great mind, and a great mind needs a tender heart to give the body direction. All of us have those unique gifts to love our neighbor as ourselves. A church where 100% of it's body is using their gifts is a fully functioning, living, exciting, community changing, happening place. BringWe all have the honor and the privilege to help build the kingdom. We bring our tithes and gifts to the storehouse so the work of the kingdom can be accomplished. A church is a family where everyone has a unique responsibility as a family member. We all together contribute out of the generosity of God's blessing. Throughout the Bible we see where God's people brought their gifts and the work of building the kingdom was accomplished. To understand giving, you must understand that everything you have, 100 percent, is a gift from God. God simply wants you to trust him by recognizing the principle of the tithe (10 percent of one's earnings is given to the church which is the local storehouse.) The bible is very clear that abundant blessings are directly linked to the financial obedience to God. BecomeBecome a disciple. Most people think that it is almost impossible to become a disciple, to become a Peter, James, or John-no way. Yet when you read the Bible, you see that the early disciples in the church where just like us: men and women who made mistakes, even sinned, yet they had one common trait. They accepted the challenge to grow closer to Christ, to become a more devoted Christ follower. Once you set your goal to become a disciple you are on your way. |
